This is About Us.

Our projects promote women and girls in sports.

We call attention to under-reported athletes and stories. We point out the problems in media coverage, marketing, and more.

You don’t have to be a girl, woman, or athlete to care about this. This is an everybody issue. Just be a good person.

If you care about women.

If you care about sports.

Welcome to the team.

Head Writer & Recognize Podcast Host

I’ve loved sports for as long as I can remember. Growing up in Freehold, New Jersey, I was that little tomboy who played with the boys and didn’t take crap from anyone.

I’m still that same punk ass tomboy. I just have a bigger mouth now.

Today, I’m a writer, ultramarathoner, and gym class overachiever who lives in Washington, D.C. My work focuses on the amazing things we humans accomplish through sport and competition.

Since 2008, I’ve completed 16 marathons and 11 ultramarathons, including first-place women’s finish at the C&O Canal 100 Mile Race (2018) and the Tesla Hertz 104.8 miler (2019).

This summer, I’m running the hardest race of my life: the Badwater 135.

The 135 Challenge

Kelaine is training for the Badwater 135, an extreme 135-mile ultramarathon across the heat & hills of Death Valley, California.

For the 135 days leading up to the race, we’ll share a blog post featuring a key woman in sports today, why you should know her, and a little bit about how she fits into the sports narrative.

Recognize Podcast

We’re currently recording a 10 episode series exploring many challenges facing women's sports today.

We’ll talk with athletes, reporters, and experts on everything from how & why media coverage is so bad, gender marketing, women athletes as "inspiration porn," activism, beauty standards, and more.
